Our Partners
NAB Schools First is brought to life in partnership with The Foundation for Young Australians (FYA) and the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). Here’s a little bit about each of them.
The Foundation for Young Australians
At The Foundation for Young Australians, we are an independent
organisation that is committed to improving the learning outcomes
and life chances of young people. To effectively deliver on this
commitment, we undertake research, deliver education initiatives, invest in individuals and youth-led organisations, and advocate on the issues that matter to young people.
Above all, we support and empower young Australians to become successful learners and creative, active and valued citizens. Our long-term vision is for an Australia where all young people achieve their full potential and are valued by all.
One of our most important goals is to achieve educational reform in Australia, which results in young people having equal access to a high quality education.
NAB Schools First is a tremendous opportunity to deliver on this goal, by supporting and promoting effective school-community partnerships across Australia that are focused on improving student learning outcomes in many different ways.
NAB Schools First is a demonstration of our shared commitment to enhancing the life chances of young people in every state and territory.

Australian Council for Educational Research
At the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) we are committed to
creating and distributing research-based knowledge, products and services to
improve learning across the lifespan in both formal and informal settings.
Established in 1930, we have a long history and solid reputation as a provider of reliable support to education policy makers and professional practitioners. As a private, not-for-profit company, independent of Government, we receive no direct financial support and generate our entire income through contracted research and development projects, and through products and services that we develop and distribute.
The NAB Schools First Awards provide an excellent opportunity for us to help schools build highly effective partnerships to improve outcomes for young people. We can do this through the customised feedback provided as part of the judging process, research highlighting the characteristics of excellent partnerships, advice to schools regarding how to evaluate their programs and partnerships, development and dissemination of case studies, and by working closely with NAB, FYA, and other key stakeholders.

National Australia Bank
At NAB, we are motivated by a belief in potential of our people, our customers and
our community.
Understanding that students do better at school when involved in their community,
we sought to enhance educational opportunities for young people by encouraging schools
and communities to work together. And so, in partnership with The Foundation for Young Australians and Australian Council for Educational Research, we created NAB Schools First.
NAB Schools First is a practical and meaningful way of putting back in to our communities.
As one of Australia’s largest banks, we understand that our responsibility extends
beyond our business interactions to being actively involved in the communities in which we operate.
NAB Schools First acknowledges that it really does take a village to raise a child, and as part of the community, we too have a responsibility to contribute positively to the lives of young Australians.
NAB Schools First has captured the hearts and minds of our people and because of this they have become passionate advocates of the program. Hundreds of NAB staff are actively involved in the program and are working alongside their local school-community partnerships, volunteering time to bring the partnerships to life and providing financial advice.
We're involved in this national awards program for the next two years and remain committed to recognising and rewarding school and community partnerships. Together, we aim to empower schools to grow, strengthen and continue to make a difference in our community.
