Supporting school-community partnerships
Many people help Schools First behind the scenes and support
to the school-community partnerships involved.
They assist in number of ways including:
- Helping with the program
- Providing ongoing support for winning schools
- Supporting any school-community partnership
Helping with the program
Schools First Advocates
NAB staff who are inspired and excited by the program help
their local school and community partnerships activity. They’re also
encouraged to proactively share the benefits of Schools First with
other staff, customers, schools and community groups.
“I really enjoyed the experience and the enthusiasm of the children involved in the exhibit. It was a small school but a worthy winner”
Megan Dyson, Branch Manager, Maitland NSW
As a national awards program, we’re trying to reach as many
schools as possible via the Schools First Partnership Forums.
When visiting local communities, NAB staff provide on the ground
assistance at these forums.

Providing ongoing support for winning schools
The Schools First team
Our team’s involvement with partnerships doesn’t stop with the cheque. We work closely with winning schools to effectively support the ongoing development of their programs. Depending on what each school needs or wants, this could range from providing tools and resource kits, to having regular phone conferences and site visits.
Schools First Relationship Managers
Each winning school is assigned a NAB staff member in their local area who is a passionate Schools First Advocate. These Relationship Managers work one on one with the school to help celebrate their success, helping bring the program to life in the local community as well as becoming an integral part of the partnership.
“The local award was so exciting. The School was buzzing and so were we. I am so glad that I am involved in the awards and look forward to the next 12 months and hopefully a few more.”
Marilyn Connor, Branch Manager, Victor Harbour SA and SRFM for Victor Harbor High School.

Supporting any school-community partnership
The Schools First team
We provide all schools with a range of opportunities to increase professional learning around:
- building sustaining school-community partnerships
- evaluating partnerships and programs
- identifying collaborative opportunities.
We do this through the Partnerships Forums, this website and our regular e-newsletter. We also provide such opportunities through
our Schools First Week and Conference, online forums and other resources and activities.
To stay in the loop about all we offer, make sure you're on our mailing list.
NAB Volunteers
Each year, all NAB staff have two days paid leave to volunteer in non-profit organisations in their local communities. Any school-community partnership that’s eligible can register to be part of the NAB volunteering program.
